What is a Juice Feast?

The point of a Juice Feast is to consume lots of fresh vegetable and fruit juice to detox and cleanse the body. A Juice Feast is different from a Juice Fast in that a person’s normal caloric need is met by drinking at least 4 quarts of fresh juice per day. That way the body receives enough energy and nutrition so the person can continue his or her normal daily routine (which is not always possible while fasting). A Juice Feast can last up to 92 days during which time an abundant amount of only fresh juice is consumed which allows for cleansing on a cellular level. The goal of a Juice Feast is to cleanse, rebuild, rehydrate, and alkalyze the body.

What are the ‘rules’?

The most important thing is to consume a daily minimum of 4 quarts of fresh, raw vegetable and fuit juice. This includes at least 2lbs of green leafy vegetables and one head of celery. The green leafy vegetables are to balance, re-mineralize, and alkalyze. Celery is exceptionally hydrating (apparently 4 times as much as water) and it’s rich in minerals and a great source of organic sodium. The rest of the juices are made up of any fresh vegetables and fruits. Additionally, coconut water, nutrient-dense green powders (e.g. Spirulina, AFA-algae, barley grass, etc), hemp oil, as well as specific supplements are recommended. Supplements are not necessary but can enhance and support the program. The idea of a Juice Feast is to supply the body with a maximum amount of nutrition that takes a minimal amount of energy to assimilate.

Cleansing and detoxification is further supported through enemas, dry skin brushing, hot-cold showers, as well as daily physical activity (e.g. walking, yoga, rebounding, weight training, etc).

Why do a Juice Feast?

By drinking only liquid nutrition that can readily be assimilated, the body gets a huge break from digesting food. The newly gained energy can then be used to clear the body of old matter. The average person carries about 5-10lbs of toxic matter in their intestines and a Juice Feast is an ideal way to cleanse and give the body a chance to regenerate and rebuild optimal health. Far from deprivation such a healing program is an experience of abundance and massive nutrition uptake which can lead to weight reduction, glowing skin, scar regeneration, healing of illness, and an enorm detoxification of the whole system.

Why 92 days?

There are 92 (known) elements the body needs for optimal performance. The Juice Feasting program is based on that concept. David Rain, the creator of this program, further explains that most people need 92 days to fully cleanse, rebuild, rehydrate, and alkalyze in order to overcome decade-old health challenges. With each day on the Juice Feast the body goes back in time for about 120 days. Such an extended process can lead a person through deep detoxification that might not be possible on a shorter fast.

How much does it cost?

David Rain, the creator of the program, estimates the costs of a Juice Feast to about $10-15 per day in the USA. The actual costs, of course, depend on where you’re located, how much organic produce you can get, and what exactly you choose to juice. Important to remember is that for many people a Juice Feast is financially considerably less expensive than a comparable healing program at a dedicated institute.
(Of course I will keep track of my own expenses to determine the approximate costs of a Juice Feast in Switzerland.)

Additionally, on the official Juice Feasting website www.juicefeasting.com one can become a member for $30 per month. There is an abundant amount of nutritional information and support available. For each day of the program there is lots of inspiring and informative material to read, listen to, and watch (articles, music, videos, graphics).

Who created the program?

David Rain created the Juice Feast program and offers it for free on www.juicefeasting.com. He holds a Masters of Arts in Vegan/Live Food Nutrition and he works closely with raw food expert Gabriel Cousens, MD, of the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center in Arizona, USA. David Rain has undertaken several extensive Juice Feasts himself and has coached and supported many people on their juice feasting journeys. In each person he witnessed incredible transformations and he’s excited to now make this program accessible to the whole world.

Why I’m doing a Juice Feast?

When I first read about juice feasting I wasn’t drawn to it at all. I was already a raw food vegan and experienced significant health improvements. However, the more I studied the concept of Juice Feasting the more curious and interested I became to try it out myself. Never before have I fasted or done a detoxification program. After a lot of reading and contemplation I decided to take the step in order to detox and cleanse my body and spirit and to re-program myself to a natural and species-appropriate diet. The experiences and changes I will encounter shall be documented for myself and everyone else who is interested in this program. As David Rain already mentioned, Juice Feasting is an idea whose time has come.
