Woke up at 3a.m. with a serious stomach ache which forced me to stay in bed until noon. Could barely sleep during that time. Did an enema, drank some herbal tea, and used a hot-water bag. Nothing seemed to help much. Later on I drank a Master Cleanser juice which didn’t really have a “cleansing” effect but it was actually quite soothing. Then, all of a sudden around noon the stomach ache was gone and I felt fine again.
Amazing how one can go from a state of serious suffering and feeling terrible back to good health in about half a day (9 hours).

Rice & beans! Pasta and tomato sauce! Aaaaahh, why do I still (or again) have these cravings for carbohydrates and starches?!

After the entire day in bed yesterday I feel a bit better now. Especially after I…uhmm…had a big solid bowel movement. It’s impressive how so much stuff can accumulate even though I’ve been consuming nothing but liquids for over a month.

I felt like crap today…physically weak and mentally depressed and listless. That’s why I literally spent the entire day in bed (until 5pm). I feel a little better now but still not good enough and I’m having doubts about this juice feast journey…I hope all this is just emotional detoxification I’m going through.

For the first time I could tolerate drinking a liter of pure green juice (celery, cucumber, swisschard, red lettuce) without using apples to sweeten it. I didn’t have to force myself and it was actually quite good.

I’m sneezing like crazy today. My nose is runny but I don’t have a cold. It’s more of an allergic reaction…I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that I ate bee pollen for the first time in my life yesterday night. However, I’m not the only one in my household sneezing madly so there must be something in the air….aaaahhchoouuu!!!

I realized that “salty” vegetable juices can be pretty tasty, too. Combinations like tomatoes, basil, garlic, onions, and zucchini are very savory. For a salty flavor I used granulated Kelp, which is a sea algae that’s salty by nature. What surprised me was finding out that zucchini makes a juice very silky and almost creamy.
For a sweet craving I also discovered a creat combination: carrots, beet root, and apples. Wow, that’s super-sweet and very tasty as well as quite satiating!

Digestion starts in the mouth. Especially carbohydrates (sugars, starches) start to break down in the mouth through the enzyme amylase found in saliva. I have actually known that for a long time. During the last few days, however, I started to really notice the importance of chewing and insalivating (is that a word?). Just swallowing juice often leads to an uncomfortable and gurgling stomach. If I thoroughly “chew” the juice, however, that problem does not occur.
